Water-based Tech
Overview
In the world of Fires of Hina, underwater exploration is made possible by a suite of sleek, high-performance gear designed for stealth, endurance, and agility beneath Thalassa’s alien seas. This technology reflects a fusion of marine biology, survival engineering, and deep empathy for the ocean, allowing humans to immerse themselves in the fragile and sacred underwater realms of Thalassa without dominating them.

Breathers
Lightweight, backpack-style devices integrated into a full facemask. These breathers provide extended oxygen supply for deep dives and are powered by compact, advanced energy sources including solar-powered backpack material. They are designed for stealth, minimizing bubbles and noise for underwater research and exploration and include an integrated underwater communication system.
Thruster Fins (e-fins)
Motorized fins worn on the feet, controlled by a ring or hand interface. They allow divers like Lani and Kyah to cruise silently through water at high speed, even in strong currents or deep canyons. These are essential for keeping pace with agile Nesoi and traversing long underwater distances quickly and silently at speeds up to 20 mph.

Lycra Dive Skins
Full-body suits protect from UV radiation and abrasions while enhancing hydrodynamics. Includes carbon nanotube reinforcements. These suits also integrate seamlessly with breathers and fins, forming a self-contained system ideal for high-performance underwater missions.
Hydrophones
Compact, waterproof audio devices used to record and monitor whale songs or Nesoi, Ceti and Baleena communications. These are used by Lani and her team to study the songs linked to emotional shifts in the water or changes in behavior.
